    Olga Alexandrovna Ladyzhenskaya's father was Aleksandr Ivanovich Ladyzhenskii, descended from Russian nobility, and her mother, Anna Mikhailovna, was from Estonia.

    Olga's birth place Kologriv was surrounded by 'wild' forests, near the picturesque river Unzha.
